Quantec to help DOE advance geothermal energy development

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced the funding of a project involving the University of Utah and Quantec Geoscience. The project is part of the DOE’s Subsurface Technology and Engineering Research, Development, and Demonstration Crosscut initiative. Quantec’s role will be to acquire magnetotelluric (MT) data, which will then be integrated with other data to achieve improved mapping of fluid-bearing, permeable subsurface fractures connected to high-temperature heat sources.
