Quantech Consulting Inc. was formed in 1986 by five geophysicists led by Keith Morrison. The company name was a monaker on what the 5 wished to do: quality applications of new technology … During the first few years, as Quantec focused on EM, TDEM, and DCIP surveys and established itself as the leader in the Canadian mineral exploration services market. In 1989, Quantech opened their first foreign office in Reno to help facilitate easier logistics for an gold exploration boom that was happening in the Carlin Trend. Business accelerated rapidly for Quantech and in the early 90s and early innovations led to pushing the depths of existing DCIP surveys and helping make some very impressive discoveries in South America. Quantech completed a landmark IP survey in Chile for a JV between Chevron and Shell and discovered two famous porphyry deposits in the process. Jeff Warne was the project geophysicist at Collahuasi and Ujina.
Focused on QUality Applications of New Technology
Within 2 years, Quantech would soon establish itself in Argentina and Peru. More discoveries followed on the tails of our surveys… Spence, Valedero, San Nicolas, Navidad, and more all had pioneering discovery work by our geophysical teams. In 1998, Quantech Consulting Inc. changed its name to Quantec Geoscience Ltd. to reflect where it was heading with innovations that were aimed at providing integrated solutions for clients, helping tie geology to geophysics through enhanced understanding of the physical rock properties and with earth modelling.
Ideas kept percolating, and in 2000, geophysical vision merged with technological advancement to create a big step forward in survey methodology with the development of the TITAN 24 system. The first commercially available multi-parameter Distributed Acquisition System (DAS). This technology uniquely combined Deep DCIP surveying along with Magnetotelluric surveying, at the same time providing DCIP image to 750 metres and greater and more detailed MT resistivity to 2000 metres
